I was wondering if anyone knows what an Armalite AR-10 with a CKA lower receiver is worth. I believe it is either a portuguese or guatumalin style.

Its not a good question.
If you want to know the true market value of AR-10 rifles (which is, effectively, what you are asking), then just look at the final dollar values of recently completed auctions for them on GB.com.
That's going to give you a heck of a better estimate of what they're "worth" right now, than 8-9 guesses from "experts" who probably aren't really even in the marketplace.

Well, since that's exactly what you're asking other people here to do, you might as well just cut out the middleman and do it yourself.
If you want an actual opinion, here's mine:
-The market of actual buyers and sellers determines the price of goods and services, not the peanut gallery. My opinion of what I'd be willing to buy or sell an AR-10 for is COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS unless I'm actually selling or bidding on one.
Even then my numbers are only meaningful to the extent that my bid or ask is representative of what the market can bear. Just because I'm willing to buy every AR-10 you're willing to sell me for $800 each, doesn't make my bid relevant until/unless there is someone else willing to sell for that amount.
-In my opinion, we have a classic "bubble" right now of panic buying. After Obama's assault rifle ban FAILS (see. . that's a prediction). . .the price of domestically manufactured black rifles like AR-10s and AR-15s will go back to the same price levels as pre-election. It may take a year for supply to catch up to demand, but my prediction is it will happen, and just like last time, there will be bagholders wondering why they paid $1200 for $800 guns they're not ever going to shoot.
In fact, my prediction is that with demand oversaturated right now, prices on these guns will actually go DOWN in two years because of a market glut, just as they did for a little while after the first Obama gun buying panic four years ago.
Again, feel free to quote me in your article. In two years, I'll either look like a wizard, or an idiot!0 -

In seriousness, I own an AR-15. . .its an expensive custom gun that I waited a year to have built by a "name" guy, that I don't much care for and don't ever shoot. Nothing at all wrong with the gun itself (in fact its excellent), I'm just not a "black rifle" guy, and to be honest, I'd just rather shoot my 10/22 or SKS.
The AR cost me $X.
With the current panic, right now, its probably worth 1.5-2.0X (have no idea what the true market value is. . .don't really care).
Even though I don't ever shoot it, and expect the price to go DOWN, I doubt I would sell it for 3x.
I just don't need the money right now, selling is a hassle, and should I ever decide that I do want one later for whatever reason, I don't want to have to worry about finding one or hypothetical legal issues at that time.
I think you'll find a lot of guys like me out there who own these rifles as a sort of "insurance policy" and are disinclined to sell them, even though we never really use them. With fear of a ban, lots of people who otherwise wouldn't buy guns like this are doing so, just because they think they may not get the chance again later.0 -

Beantown Not trying to sound like a wise ass. I'm referring to the original question but I'm referring to the AR10 in my signature line.
This is not an original run of the mill current production gun made by the current Armalite. I'm comparing the original to the current production gun. The original bayonet I have for it is the cleanest example I have ever seen. Nearly in unissued condition and it alone would run close to what a current production AR10 would cost. If I remember right the last original type AR 10 that was sold on GB went for almost 5K alone with no extras. That and add in all the current panic buying and that is why I'm telling the original poster that he can't afford it. Again on the other hand I could say its worth 7K but am I gonna get that much probably not.

Some have gone crazy over these guns, real crazy. Its a panic here in Mississippi. Can't even find 22 shells here or if you do they are $5.00 box of 50. Just crazy. 0 -

As I'm not buying into the panic situation we have going on here now, I would pay regular price for an AR-10 from about 6 months before the election. Meaning a standard configuration with no bells and whistles, running at right around $1k. Modified the way I would like it? $1500-$1700.
I refuse to pay 'designer' prices for any AR, big or little. I will pay fair market value for a premium product.0 -
FWIW, I heard that at the local gun show this past weekend AR-15s that would have sold for $800 three months ago were selling for $1500-1800.
Not just asking price. . .actually moving! Arguably that *IS* the "fair market value" right now, because of the way the market is.
Some vendors were selling .223 ammo at $1/round and not only was it moving, but they all sold out. I heard Georgia Arms was amongst these.
For Armilite, I "get" it. You have a "real" AR-10 that is rare and collectible, etc (and some bozo was trying to sell one at a ridiculously overinflated price without even posting pictures)
Suffice it to say that I think if I offered to swap my car for your rifle, you wouldn't say "no" [:p] Again, I think I could "afford" to buy it. . .I'm just not interested.0 -
