Why do many gun people say "no sales to calif."? thanks

Uncertainty about CA State, County, and City rules and regulations.
As a private person I could not care less about CA laws and I will ship anything that I sell to a CA resident. If he is not supposed to possess said item, that's his problem.
OTOH, a dealer, especially an FFL, operates under different rules and he risks his licence and livlihood if something goes bad. So, for him, it's easier to say, "No Sales To CA".0 -
even dealer to dealer paperwork is simple 0 -

Just sold a handgun to a CA buyer. His dealer e-mails me and says it is unlawful for me to ship the gun to him as a private individual. Even the CA dealers don't know their own laws! I am tired of jumping thru hoops for that silly state. 0 -
While I may not have many posts to the forum, I am a daily follower. I had to add my two cents on this post. Some people are afraid to ship to CA as they are unfamiliar with the laws. Although, selling and shipping to CA is a simple process. I am a collector in CA and run into this problem quite often. It is frustrating to say the least. Here is the link I send them:

Well first, I truly hope not and don't think it will happen. But if it does all those "won't ship" and "I hate CA" folks will be beating the bushes not only to sell here but to ask "how did you guys buy 300,000 ARs AFTER they were banned - and can you show us how too....?"
There's no other state where gun owners have been more successful working around these foolish laws than CA.0 -

Working your way around foolish gun laws is not exactly something to brag about. OTOH, making sure that those foolish laws are not enacted in the first place - now that is something to brag about. I live in AZ in case you can't guess.
I'm all on your guy's side. I used to live in CA and still have a lot of friends there. I shoot there at least a couple of times a year. But, I'd never go back and, personally, I think it's a lost cause.

We're greatly outnumbered and too many CA gun owners are "oh so sophisticated" when it comes to voting for the Democrat of their choice. With them in charge our only hope is the courts. I don't enjoy the need to get around these laws, but it gets me the guns I want for the most part. It's a more involved and creative method that was used in the original 1994 ban. "No pistol grip" resulted in thumbholes, "no threaded barrel" resulted in spring loaded ball bearings holding on brakes.0
