choke tube grease

Are there any oil's or grease that can be used effectively without buying the regular choke tube grease? Just curious. Any info is appreciated. Terrill

  Auto parts stores sell small tubes of moly or graphite based grease, known as anti seize. Doesn't take a lot on the threads to keep them from binding up.

  Red or blue loctite will keep it in place[;)]

  brownells sells a barrel assembly paste that can be used on choke tubes.

  I may be doing this wrong, but I use CLP on the threads and check the chokes after I clean the shotgun after use and when I take the shotgun out to shoot.

  I usualy use a good muzzle loader breech plug grease. You are obviously looking to keep it from siezing up. It works for me. Rufe-snow's idea, works well too.

  I use and recommend the copper based anti seize for choke tubes and muzzleloader breech plugs ! They will come right out , first time , evey time .

  I never put anything other than regular gun oil on mine. I take them out often and re-apply especially if the gun was used in rainy conditions.
