1964 Winchester model 70 225 cal whats it worth

Cant get you any pictures but assuming that you find one of these in good used condition, some surface scratches on the wood, some worn bluing say 90% bluing excellent bore. There are three on the auction side for 900 and up, they are not selling, whats a decent used post 64 model 70 in a rare caliber worth?

  The problem, is they are POST-63. They don't have the famous PRE-64 style, Mauser type actions, and the workmanship was turned over to the bean counter's.
  
  You might look for around the $500.00-700.00 range. Seems everyone has their attention, and $$ turned to the AR markets right now.

  I have a 70 and a 670 in .225. Other than the OOU factor (old, odd, unusual) they offer nothing over the .22/.250. I've had the 70 for quite a while. My hunting buddy bought it when they first came out and then decided he would rather have a .22/.250 so he was going to have the .225 re-chambered. I said, "STOP, I'll trade you for it." So I bought a new 700 and we swapped. I bought the 670 at a gun show in 2005 and paid $375 for it. Both rifles shoot well but are a couple hundred FPS slower than the .22/.250. Think of the cartridge as splitting the difference between the .223 and the .22/.250. Also, keep in mind that the "standard" .225 70 has a barrel 22" long. The "Varmint" is 24".
  
  EDIT: After checking my range notes, I need to revise above statement. Favorite loads for the .225: 50 gr. bullet cronographed 3700 fps. 55 gr. @ 3500 fps.
  In my Remington 788 .22/.250: Favorite 50 gr. load @ 3770 fps. 55 gr. @ 3600 fps.
  So once I looked it up, the .225 is a lot closer to the .22/.250 than it is to the .223.
  I haven't checked the suppliers like Midway since I'm pretty well set on brass but there's probably some out there if only seasonally available.

  Caliber itself is another drawback, besides the points made by the previous posters.
  
  I had a chance to buy one of the Savages chambered for 225 a couple of years ago. Not sure, it might have been the 340 Model?
  
  It was in primo condition. Glad the deal didn't work out though. As I found that there is no commercial ammo available for the 225, other then from custom loaders. The brass is real odd ball to, not easy stuff to reload, because of that.
