Ithaca 37 problem
12 Ga. Model 37. When I fire it, it jams up tight. Action's locked up. After you pull hard on the slide several times, it will come loose. No chamber problems, shells, even fired ones, move in and out freely. Cycles dummy ammo through fine. Shotgun seems to be in good shape, overall. Any ideas?

my s.w.a.g. could be shell latch worn. had this happen on 2 of these guys use them everyday for hunting. easy fix and I have o.a.l. measurement of latch. does the gun have high mileage? 0 -
Doesn't seem to be high mileage, from looking at it. It belongs to an Amish kid, who got screwed on the price, and when he wanted to hunt with it, it locked up damn near every time. He is a good kid, and I'm just trying to make this right for him, best way I can. 0 -
I have a 1965 Deluxe 37 in like new condition that jammed solid randomly when it felt like it. It was like new because the original owner jammed it and left it in the safe for many years.The jamming baffled me and I polished all machining marks from internal parts with no effect other than slicking it up.
I took it up to Ithaca when they were still open, they fixed it, test fired it in a barrel in less than 5 minutes and charged me $50 for a mfg defect, pizzing me off. They wouldn't tell me what they did. I still don't know but someone out there does because they knew all about it and got right to it instantly. There was no wear on this gun.
Keep asking around. Someone knows and it's a very fast fix.
As I recall it jammed on a live round every 100 or so shots and needed to come apart to clear...not so cool at a range.0 -
I see these shotguns locally and they go cheap. There was a nice 12 ga yesterday for 200.00. I always thought they would be a good choice for me since Im left handed. Is there a problem getting parts for them? 0 -
Possibly the disconnector is hanging up, and won't let loose when it's fired....
It don't take much to stone it enough to make it work as it should...0
