DOM for Wingmaster
..I'm helping a dear old friend get his affairs in order, just in case the doctors are wrong. I'm aware of the barrel codes, but could someone date a 12 ga. 870 Wingmaster with a receiver serial # of W858619M ? We thank you.

look at the barrel code... then see when it was made.

..I suspect that the barrel is a replacement, as it's a 2 3/4" slug barrel, and the receiver is 3" compatable. Maybe I'm missing something on the Remington site in Bert's post, but I don't see a source for receiver serial # look-up...?
..Barrels get swapped all the time. Seems to me that the receiver, which is the actual "gun" should be trackable.

..TRAP55..The nice lady at Remington should be a model for the industry standards. In seconds, she had my answer (1988). I also asked about my model 51 in .380, which she had to refer to the head historian.
..It came back as 1919, the second year of production. Real nice folks with the right answers. Thanks a million for your info.
