Check actual fair market value, by seeing what the are actually selling for on the auctions and fleabay. 0 -
Be able to properly identify your bayonets and grade condition, flyspeck variations can change values tremendously. Also, markings can affect value as much as condition. I have seen mis identified bayonets sell for a song on E-Bay while properly catalogued ones sell for considerably more.
E-Bay is a good start, probably more indicative of market than GB due to large sales volume. There are several sites on the Internet that can assist in identifying your bayonets.
If you can find a copy of Anthony Carters books on Bayonets, he often tried to put a value on them based on recent sales and the scarcity of the item. Although he passed away awhile back, many of his books are still in print and can be found in book stores, E-Bay, etc.
Typically, bayonets will be of more value in their country of origin and you should check shipping costs as well as final value to see the total value to the purchaser.
