Finnish M39

Am wanting one of these, need to know what were the better arsenals that manufactured these and military markings that are more desirable. Not wanting to join another forum if I can get the info here. Thanks

  They were assembled from Russian receivers in Finland, along with Finnish parts and barrels. At least 4 different factories assembled them over a 30 year time span. Go with the Sako it's a name everybody knows, specially in the U.S. Not saying it's the best just has more name recognition.
  
  With at least 4 different factories assembling over a 30 year time span, there will be a lot of different markings. Your going to have to research them on-line, or buy some reference books.

  As recommended, get the Terence Lapin book on the Mosin-Nagant as it is a fine reference that will help. As Rufe points out, Sako was one of the producers and has the best "known" name, but I also have had M39s from VKT, SkY and Tikkakoski over the years and all are fine rifles. The Finns improved the Mosin in a quite a few ways you will find.
