Colt Government Model Commercial 1921
Puchased this Colt today. I know the mainspring housing is not right but everything else looked correct to me. Would much appreciate your thoughts on originality and value. Finish appears original although well worn in places. I thought the slide might have an SN but I can't find one. My understanding though is that Colt didn't add SNs to commercial slides until sometime in the early 1920s so this 1921 vintage might not have had one. Finish wear is consistent on frame and slide so appears they've been together a long time. The barrel appears to have a K (or what's left of one) under the barrel which I believe is correct. Thought there might be a small "P" too but can't find one. It's not clear in the pictures but there is a W on the top front of the trigger guard above a triangle with perhaps a P in it. About the mainspring housing, I believe it should be the flat blued 1911 version with a lanyard and confirmation of that would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Sorry I am not at home to reference my notes and books . Most everty thing looks correct Except the Mainspring housing as you stated but I need to look at my notes on barrel markings. For 90 + years that old girl is NOT bad. It is Not even near mint so IMHO you will not hurt value to shoot and enjoy. Keep well oiled and clean.
