Unstraight Barrel Cut

If the barrel is cut un-straight, that means the crown is not straight. The crown is tha LAST thing the bullet see's, as it is leaving the barrel. Accuracy will be more like shotgun pattern. This is not something for the amateur to address with a saw and file. It needs to go to a competant FULL SERVICE shop to be corrected.

    EDIT 1

quote:All the old 44 Special handguns are made for close-up and personal interactions at 25 yards or less.

That is quite untrue, and the 44 special, is one of the foremost accurate centerfire handgun rounds to hit the market. Yes, it has been chambered in some snub nosed revolvers, and does equally as well as the 45 ACP, in defense mode, just not as popular.

As a matter of fact, you need to get a grip on everything you are saying, and putting out there.

    EDIT 2

quote:They might not win any prizes at Camp Perry, but they would hit a target, no problem at 25 yds.

Thats not exactly what your first post says about the 44 Special, now is it, 50 years or not.

If it's a 44 Special handgun, I wouldn't worry about it other then the cosmetic factor.

All the old 44 Special handguns are made for close-up and personal interactions at 25 yards or less. The bubbaed barrel wouldn't have nearly the effect, that mangled sights or screwed up timing and lock-up would have on accuracy.

EDIT #1, The above is my first post in reference to the 44 Special with the bubbaed barrel. If you can't comprehend what I'm saying. Perhaps it's time for you to get up close and personal with a mental health professional, about your cognitive problems.

I had a 7 1/2" 38-40 with a straight cut but with a really bad barrel crown. The crown waltzed in and out as it went around the bore, by about 1/8 ". The gun shot about 3" left at 30 yards, but grouped O.K. When I recrowned the barrel, I found that the point of impact had moved back to the right, so that it coincided with the sights.

Opinions are like rectums, everybody has one. I have been shooting for 50+ years. Some really scally condition handguns, with barrels like sewer pipes. They might not win any prizes at Camp Perry, but they would hit a target, no problem at 25 yds.
