It will go through about 1" of steel so be careful shooting them at questionable back stops. The accuracy thing is true, they tend to shoot very well.

US .30-06 M2AP (armor piercing) rifle ammo is legal to buy, sell, & possess under federal law; local law may vary.

The bullets won't damage the bore, but the corrosive primers probably will, if not cleaned immediately after shooting.

thanks for the help. had a list that said these were non-corrosive, my back stop will stop 50bmg. I may sell them but I am going to have to figure out how to insure they go to the right home.

I do not agree with your list. Most USGI makers shifted to noncorrosive 1950-1953.

DEN 44 is Denver arsenal 1944. From the CMP site:
"Denver closed down after the war and never made non corrosive primed ammo."

I don't know what year 8 ,RA signifies, but they do not show Remington Arms making any noncorrosive AP at all, although they changed over for ball in November 1951.

I believe that not much .30 was made in 1944, the Gov't started winding down the production of anything under .50, in late 1943. They may have a little value over the average round, but a cartridge collector would know for sure.

I did find one RA 44 round, in a BAR magazine that was part of a stack that had been left beside a trail on Conical Hill on Okinawa (each magazine still contained between one and three rounds. The other headstamps were all '43).

I had a misprint, the 8 rnds are WRA 56, the list is much more complete than the one I had been using. The AP does not mean that much to me but the accuracy element is something to think about, never know PETA may start handing out vests to deer.
