I use 322, works great. If you don't swage pocket the new primer won't seat. 0 -
I use H 335 with good results, the others should be fine as well. You can swage either before or after sizing; you can also ream if you prefer. Depends how big the crimp is. For normal US crimps I just swage the pocket, but I've run across some WW2 vintage 30-06 that had a really aggressive crimp, and I prefered to ream those. 0 -
Thanks fella's , I mainly load the 223 for ground hogs out of my VTR using Benchmark , but with all this crazyness with 223 ammo , a buddy asked if I could put some together for his AR .
Thanks again0 -
All four powders listed are fine. Personally I like 748 and AA2230 the best for 20 inch or longer barrels. And I like AA2015 for 16 to 18 inch barrels. 0 -
When the panic buying took place in the 90's IMR powders were pretty much unavailable. H335 along with Win760 were the only 2 powders available to allow me to load every rifle I then had. While neither were ideal they were acceptable between the 2 can load most anything. While I have a stock of H335 powder I never found the need to reload for the 223. just don't shoot 223 much. 0 -
I like 2230 or H-335 for my 55,s [;)] 0 -
Those AR's sure are fussy , and a pain to load for .
Tumble clean
Wipe em off and size em
Clean & Swage primer pockets
Trim em , Seems like after their shot out of an AR they stretch as much as .020 to .025" . After I trim for the VTR , they don't even grow .002"
Then deburr em
Now ya can load em0 -

1. All four powders are fine.
2. Unless you want to double step the process, i.e. universal deprimer, then size the cases and then work the crimps out. Some cut, some swage. I prefer cutting.0 -
I use 21gr. of IMR-4198. Just got 8 pounds in this week. I use Sierra 50gr. SPs. This is for a 10 1/2 Rock River rifle. They shoot about 2" bench at 100 yards with a 4 MOA red dot. I set the charge off with CCI 450 SRM primers. 0 -
I would NEVER "load some for a buddy." You can't sell reloads without an ammunition manufacturing license and huge liability insurance policy. If you give it away, you still open yourself to liability - whether your reloads had anything to do with an accident or not. 0 -
H-335 is great if you like a lot of muzzle flash and it is a good powder. 0
