AK or SKS Mags

Folks,

Please please please forgive my ignorance. I've never shot either much less owned one. I have these mags though and I couldn't begin to tell you what they go to...either an SKS or AK. Can anyone tell just by looking? Would I need to take extra pictures?

  7.62x39 Chinese AK magazines like that are difficult to find. Do they have chrome followers?
  
  They are worth a premium over the "regular" (East-block European) magazines you'll mostly see selling these days.
  
  If they have chrome followers, they're worth a big premium.

  Ahh ok the follower is the plate the first round rests on? No it's black. But here's a pic anyway.

  That's done by altering the magazine catch lug to accomodate the dimensions of the magazine catch on a Saiga. But the mags can't be used in an AK again, because the resulting loose fit in an AK causes problems. Without further altering the Saiga, the AK mags still won't work in those guns either. The trunnion in a Saiga is cut lower than in an AK, and in an AK, the bottom of the trunnion serves as the bullet guide. The Saigas use a higher front wall on their magazines to serve this purpose. If AK mags are used in a Saiga, a bullet guide must be installed in the trunnion. to lift the round enough to feed properly.
  
  It is better to modify the mag catch in a Saiga, than to modify the magazines. That way, the magazines keep their interchangeability with AK's. I don't modify the catches at all, I just replace them with a standard AK mag catch.
  
  I've seen Saigas with both round-bottomed and flat-bottomed trunnions, and I've made the bullet guides out of Suomi receiver sections, and flat stock, respectively. But once this is done, a rifle that was originally imported as a strict 'sporter' may enter a gray legal area, so I've always added enough U.S.-made parts to them to keep them qualified for use in daylight.

  you can weld a peice of matel to front of mag to feed properly and then use a file to modify mag catch on the mag. me and a friend have redone 8 of these mags for our saigas. it take about 10 minutes per mag and you don't have to alter anything on the rifle.
