colt 1911 grip question
have a boat load of 1911 flexible black rubber checkered grips with an enbossed colt logo. not gold medallion, but the horse with the holves setting on top of the globe, arrow through the mouth and under the front leg within a circle. i dont much about colt stuff. i thought colt had three arrows! in the logo? also does not have the word colt present. got these from a vintage old closed down gun shop. could these be from colt or just copies? either way, pretty nice. thanks

Its not an "arrow".
The grips you describe came from the Colt factory, standard on Colt Govt & Commander 1911's starting in the 80's, and into the 90's and present.
Heres a quick explanation of the Colt Logo.
...The Rampant Colt logo.
...The Colt carries a SPEAR in its mouth, a BROKEN spear (two pieces).
The horse signifies readiness to serve the King, whom he served. The broken spear signifies a warrior slain in battle.
...By carrying the spear, the warhorse is continuing the fight for his fallen rider.
...A very fitting symbol, tribute, to the never ending legacy of one of the most notable, firearms inventor, Samuel Colt.

If you have a boatload, I would guess that you would like to sell some. And, there are probably some forum members who would like to buy some.
