RCBS Rock Chucker IV Question
I have a RCBS Rock Chucker IV with the front port in the ram for priming...I don't use it for priming as I do it via a priming tool. My problem is when I resize the case and the primer decapping takes place the expended primer sometimes comes flying out the front port instead of the rear port and into the primer catcher. Probably 1 or 2 times out of 10. Enough to be a pain in the butt and make me chase expended primers around the room. Does anyone make a plug for the front port that will stay in place and prevent the expended primers from coming out that way?

Maybe someone makes a fitted plug. I would use some glue and a cut piece of thicker leather. Easy to remove should you choose to do so. 0 -
I don't know of a IV Model. I have a II, but can't you leave the primer piece in?
On my presses if I take it off(I don't use them either) the primers do the same thing. If I leave them on the spent ones go right where they should.0 -
Deep 6 the Rockchucker and get a Lee classic 0 -
Get a McDonald's straw, cut it to just fit in the slot on the ram. Voila! Primers then fall down either side and not straight out. 0 -
I have a piece of cardboard cut to wedge into the front of the primer catcher to keep the odd ones from flying out in the floor.

As I deprime, I just put my thumb or fore-finger along the length of my port (slot in my case as I have an original Rockchucker) and sweep the expended primer in the primer catcher.
It shouldn't take any modification.0 -
I've had a Rock Chucker for 30 yrs
and I wanted another station.
I found the Lee classic and bought it.
I liked the primer catch and especially
the versatility of the handle.
One can relocate the handle to either
side of the press and adjust the length.
Plenty strong.

I don't know what model RC I have, but have had a similar issue; so whichever it is it is a common enough problem. I just used lock tite and 'glued' a piece in to prevent that on mine. Figured with lock tite I could still get it out if I wanted.
I also have a Lee Classic Cast. Anyone who bashes that press hasn't looked seriously at a Lee press in years. In terms of clearance, strength, mounting, primer handling, and ergonomics it absolutely slaughters the Rockchucker in every category. They're both fine presses. I just liked the Lee enough to buy one and now use it almost exclusively.0
