Filling gaps in stocks that aren't fitted perfect.
I am building a walnut stock for my traditions deerhunter I hate plastic stocks) flintlock 50 cal. This is my first stock. It seems to be going well but I am worried about some of the metal to wood fit. Is there a product that can match the wood and also fill any gaps if there is one? I don't know of any gaps yet. But, I am not done shaping it. Should the barrel make constant connection or try to do tip pressure or float somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just in case I need to fill a hairline crack, I save a little sawdust to mix with wood glue for use as filler.

Chances are your tube is thick enough to not matter much free floated / dampened or full contact. I'd favor the full contact sealed with LinSpeed (plus lock and patch box area) bbl channel to keep out corrosion with a light coat of oil on metal.
It is easier to take out wood than put it back. Take your time, craftmanship is rare these days. If you use fillers make darn sure you use a good/correct release agent (apply twice just to be sure). The old MicroBed made a muddy brown thick easy to manage filler.
