Rem. 870 "Turkey Model?"
I can't remember. Did Rem. market a turkey model of the 12 ga. 870 Express?
Picked up an early 12 ga. 3", Express 26" fixed full choke barrel,vent rib. First 12 ga. 26" Full barrel I have seen in person.
Checked the choke with my gauge and it is a very tight Full choke. Looking forward to patterning this barrel.

Yes, Remington sure did market a Turkey Gun, in the 870 Express. It came with a 21 inch vent rib barrel, with a bradley center bead, like a trap gun, and an extended extra full turkey choke tube. I have one, and wouldn't trade it for the world. I even take it to the trap range fromtime to time, and piss people off, who are shooting 21-23/25, using $10-15K trap guns.
I think your gun has either a non-cataloged barrel, or it has been switched. All of the vent rib barrels, had the Rem-Choke set up, even from their introduction. They only came with one choke tube, the standard model was modified choke tube.

As I stated before, the 870 Express, was not introduced untill 1987, and it was introduced at first in 12 gauge only, with a 28" modified Rem-choke barrel. The only ones in the Express line up, that I know of with fixed chokes were the 28, and 410's. There was a SPORTSMAN 12, that was a predescessor to the Express, that had fixed chokes. That was made in 1985-1986. There was an 870 Special Purpose in that time frame, that resembled the Express also.

There probably more pissed about you shooting a short barreled noisy shotgun, more then anything. I took a trench gun to a Trap Range one time for S & G. To say the least, the muzzle blast upset the hard core Trap folks greatly. I guess it messed up their concentration. I was just sorry I didn't wear my cammies and have the bayonet fixed, that would have really fried them. They were pretty happy to see me leave.0 -
26" full is not common but not necessarily a turkey gimmick gun.
Back in the 1980s there was a Remington factory rep who appeared at shoots in the region. He shot trap with an 1100 26" full. He was mainly a skeet shooter and stayed with the barrel length he was used to but with suitable choke for the longer shots. He did ok.0 -
