    The original K-frame .357 Mag.

Prior to S&W's use of model numbers it was known as the Combat Magnum.

    EDIT:

    Txs,
The original 357 mag was a 38-44, today it's known as an N frame model 27.
But, yes, the model 19 is a K frame.

I was saying the Combat Magnum was the first .357 Mag K-frame revolver, not that it was the very first chambered for this cartridge.

Over the years several others were introduced, but the Combat Magnum/M19 was the first of these smaller framed .357 Magnums.

    Edit:
    Txs,
Your right, the first K frame in 357 mag. Bill Jordan and other influental LEOs where behind the design. The 19 is much nicer to carry all day than the big N frame.
The 4" model 19, to my way of thinking is the perfect duty sized double action revolver.

    Is a Smith Model 19 a K frame?

Yes, that gun is built on the medium (ie "K") frame.
