I have 3 ???.Did the 1890 22 short come with a Lyman Tang Sight or was that a later add on??When was the last year of the curved metel butt plate on 1894??On the same gun if the barrel was cut from a rifle to 18 1/2 carbine size does that effect the value??
    Thanks in advance Rick

I am not Bert, but, I do have a copy of Berts book, and I buy him beer once in a while.
According to his fine publication, your Winchester model 1892 was shipped in 1909.
As to the round barrel, that was standard, unless you paid more for the octagon barrel.
Bert will be along presently, and help you out with the remaining facts. He's not going to be able to value the rifle without good, close, clear pictures.

    Mark,

Other than the date of manufacture, there is no other information available for serial number 488388. It was manufactured in June of 1909.

I need to see several clear detailed pictures of it before I can assess the value.

Bert, I didn't know you had a book out on Winchesters. Where can I get it, and what is the cost? It appears I have missed something. Have been kind of involved with my wife's health issues and have not been overly engaged on the forums.
