compact 1911
Anyone have any problems with compact 1911? Are they a good open carry wepon? I have shot many 1911s, but never a smaller one. I like 1911 more than any other high caliber auto pistol.

Ive asked this before but does anyone know anything about the over-johnson thrasher model 3", there is a bunch out there about ria, but cant find any compact model reviews much less ones that seem honest... or recent for that matter. Like the Iver-johnson model, cant afford the kimber or S&W les baer etc. Would be nice for some feedback. 0 -
Got this off the net. Never heard of this "SAM" outfit in the PI, or ATI for that matter. On the other hand, Iver Johnson is a old line American gun company that went out of business years ago. Some FNG's just bought the rights to use their name, to try to fool people into believing they are getting a quality U.S. made pistol.
Go on-line and research this SAM outfit from the PI, to get a handle on the quality of this Thrasher pistol your interested in.

I don't think there is enough room for the spring to work correctly. A half length bbl and sight plane does not appeal to me either.
The cost of most things over your life time is pennies a day. If you are betting your life on a product a few extra pennies invested could be a well spent.0 -
Ya they had an ATI at gander for dirt cheap, and a gun shop owner was trying to push iver johnson on me.. I am skeptical of both I want to be economical but that doesnt do me any good if its a POS that dont go bang
The reviews talk about FTF during the break in period.. I have never had an issue with that on my other guns (granted one is a sig, and the other is an M&P)0 -
crash 2 be aware the more compact the 1911 TYPE PISTOL the more likely you will have function problems. No one that has ever shot a full size 1911 will tell you a super small compact is as forgiving as a full size when it comes to matching ammo and person firing the pistol to 100% trouble free function.with a super small compact design. I have a mongrel .45, Auto Ord frame G.I. internals, and a Charles Daly top end. It's a shorty and it took a lot of polishing just to get it to shoot hardball. After 1000 or so rounds I trust it, with ball ammo.
A full size 1911 type pistol is more likely to function properly with other ammo and is easier to shoot.0 -
From my reading I agree, although I am possibly settling on a kimber ultra carry II, its not a fancy pricey kimber but the off brand jobbers look a little sketchy to me. The reviews are all over the place and a lot of the top reviews look too similar for my tastes. For both the ATI or sam or Iver-johnson... I cant seem to find any truthful reviews on them. The RIA seems good but I still dont get that warm fuzzy feeling. 0 -
I bought a RIA several years ago, out of the box jam every other round. I had the smith polish the ramp and a new set of wolf springs and all is well 0 -
