Fox Model B 20 ga info?
I've got a line on a Fox Model B 20 gauge but I don't have any experience with Fox shotguns. The owner got it in a deal where he had to buy two guns to get the one he wanted now he's selling the B. He says it's a Model B with a single trigger and he thinks it was made in the 60s. This is where I'm confused. If it is a single trigger from the 60s shouldn't it be stamped BSE or something similar?
He says it's in really good shape and is asking $600. That seems a little high to me but like I said I have no experience with this gun.

Madel "B" would only have extrators. "BSE" would have ejectors. For $600.00 it would need to be in geat shape. Any serial numbers??? 0 -
A 20 ga BSE with good to excellent finish would be about right @ $600. My experience with these shotguns is that the wood finish is sort of fragile. Doesn't take much use to start fading or flaking.
You likely won't make a huge profit if that's your goal but those are good hunting guns. I've had two 12's and gave my Son a B model 20 when he was about 14-15.0 -
As long as you understand the difference between a Fox and a Savage Fox there's no problem. Price? Price is subjective. I'd say that you'd be hard pressed to find a new or near new gun of that quality for anywhere near $600.00. 0 -
The barrel will indicate location of manufacture.
The model designation will be stamped into the receiver.
Location of manufacture as well as model designation are
necessary in establishing catalog value.0 -
Early Model B's had hardwood stocks with cut checkering, later ones were beech with pressed checking. The later ones had the finish that peeled. 0 -
Not sure about serial numbers yet. I'm not looking to make a profit, it will be used for rabbits and quail. I always like to research my guns to make sure I don't overpay. 0 -
Found out that it was made in Westfield and has 3" chambers. From what I've found that means it was made from that late 60's on? 0 -
Westfield single trigger good 500, vg 600, exc 800 from Shideler std Cat of firearms 2010.
Mine once had a boot recoil pad allowing moisture to screw up the wood finish. Stripper made it look new. I may use Tung oil on it0
