REMINGTON 552 problem solved
first i want to thank everyone for their ideas and input.
tsr1965 had the answer to the problem. it was indeed headspace. the barrel was slipping forward when fired.following tsr 1965's suggestion, i removed the screw which holds the forend in place, give the barrel a good bump to the rear with rubber mallet, took(5) #8 lead shot, placed in screw hole and inserted screw and tightened. DONE.... thanks Tim.[:)]

You are very welcome, but make sure you test it vigorously, before you let it go.
