how do you secure the forearm once you screwed the 410 barrel on.

    This is how they were sold. If you don't have the correct forend on the centerfire takedown barrel, don't appear it will work.

    Strange, I thought that a Savage Model 99 is a rifle, .410 bore is a shotgun. Tell us more about your gun.

    i have the extra 410 barrel but it seems to be missing the little bracket.seems weird that they put a special bracket on the barrel instead of a fixed lug.

    Back in the days, long long ago Savage sold a optional 410 barrel for their takedown models. It wasn't a repeater. It was a manually fed, single shot, chambered for the 2 1/2 inch 410 shell. You could get them in the fitted case shown, from Savage. Don't run across them to often, as they weren't popular. Worth good money to a Savage collector nowadays though.
