who makes a good scope base for this handgun?

mulling getting myself the 12" from the performance center.
what do the ballistics look like for this cartridge. i would use it for whitetail,hogs,etc.
what brand of scope do you experts suggest? i am thinking about the burris scopes.0 -
Yes, there are Burris fans here and I like Burris too. However I have a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8 on my 460 and have been happy with that. Don't shoot it all that much as frankly, with full power 460 loads, it's not all that much fun to shoot. And the point of impact is so different with 45 Colt or even 454 Casull that I pretty much have to stick with one cartridge. Google is your friend on the ballistics information. 0 -

The 460, and 500S&W cartridges, are capable, and have taken the largest animals, that roam the face of this planet, Earth. So, they will do anything you want to. The 460 XVR revolvers are the more versatile of the two, as you can also shoot 45 Colt, or 454 Casull ammunition in them.
It takes an extremely robust scope to hold up to the recoil of these beasts. With that in mind, I would say the Burris LER 3-12x handgun scope is the best. I have a couple of them, and also have the Leupold VX-III 2.5-8x handgun scope( I needed a scope quick for my Ruger Redhawk in 41 Magnum, and none of my distributors had the Burris in stock). I would definately go with the Burris over the Leupold, and any other brand like Simmons, Tasco, Nikon, Redfield, etc., would not even become a consideration.

Because the 460 is a much higher pressure than the 45-70, it should be a little flatter than the 45-70...especially with the lighter 200 grain bullets, that were designed for it, at full house velocities of 2300-2400 FPS.

i agree with the use of burris. i have the 3-12 on my xp-100. i shoot a 14" contender in 45-70, i know about recoil . how does the 460 compare with the 45-70 as far as drop? 0 -
