.303 Examples

Here are some .303 I started to pull the bullets out of that were loaded with powder that I got with some reloading equipment. The first case on the right the powder came out in what looked like oil saturated clumps. The second case from the right I used my hammer to remove the bullet and did not see the separation until the bullet was out. The third round from the right the bullet was loose. The third forth and fifth rounds from the right were loaded and have splits running down from the case mouth. The sixth, seventh and eight are good examples of varying degrees of case head separation but were not reloaded. The family of the man that owned the equipment I purchased wanted to stop him from being able to continue reloading because of his age and were afraid he may hurt himself. Good examples for someone that has not seen this type of damage.

  Family saved this man from injury of worst. I would throw all his reloading supplies away . Could have wrong powder in opened cans Bad cases like yours ETC.

  I'm guessing (and not a reloading expert) but is that a combination of:
  1. Too much lube
  2. Wrong charge weight or
  3. Wrong powder
  4. Brass used too many times
  5. Incorrect crimp
  
  Appreciate the chance to view what could have been a catastrophe

  As to the case heads about to separate, that's nothing to worry about so long as the brass is tossed when it gets to looking like this. Enfields are well known for having generous chambers, and for some reason some US manufactuers persist in making undersized brass to boot. All of which leads to only getting 2-3 reloads per case.
  
  I agree though, if someone isn't totally with it, reloading isn't the hobby they should be doing.
