Redfield Revenge

Redfield Revenge what is your thaught about it, it will be 4-12-42 varmint abs. I was just wondering if it will be a good buy or not, it list for 219.99 at cabelas. The thing that got me concern is it made overseas not in usa.

    Almost all scopes are now made overseas. It is what it is.

    I am a broken record on this but here it goes again.

    Buy Burris, the best one you can afford and cry only once.

    Signature and Black Diamond are the best of the Burris line.

    As the previous poster said, most glass, today, is made across the pond. The more affordable common folk units, seem to be coming from the Phillipines, or at least the majority of them.

    I too, like Burris, and have two of their first Signature series 3-12x44, with the patented "Light Collector", adjustable iris feature, still in service from the mid 80's. Theystill get the job done to this day. Unfortunately, it appears that Burris, no longer makes the Signature, or Black Diamond series products. Most likely a decision by their new owner, Beretta USA. Their top line common scope is the FullField II.

    While the Redfield line, is now under Leupold command, and appears to be servicable on most models, I still like the Burris FF II, as my minimum entry level scope. The Nikon Buckmaster series is also very comparable, in performance and price.

    There is also the Sightron SII series, and you should also look at the Vortex brand, and the Viper models to be specific. There are three different Viper's, one being the PST(the better one, for near $1k), and the Viper HS, about half the cost, then the Viper.

    Don't be so sure of that. They are not owned by Burris anymore. They are owned by a conglamorate called Beretta USA.

    The Redfields are made in the USA....all of them, the whole line.

    They also use overseas glass, has does ALL brands......no glass in made here, and hasnt been for a long time. Japan is still the best maker of optic glass, followed by the Phillipines, believe it or not. Heard a rumor that the Germans even started buying most of their glass in the phillipines too. Just the way of the world.

    But to restate it yet again....other than the glass...the new Redfields are made in the USA........


    EDIT....seems I didnt do my homework....the revenge is made overseas, only the revolution is made here.........damn, what the hell is leupold thinking with this?

    I have a couple of the Redfield Revolution Scopes and like them a lot. Made in USA and same warranty as Leupold. I do like the 4-12X40 a lttle more than the 3-9x40. Very comparable to the Leupold VX-1 scopes.

    I share your concern about the Revenge scopes and they aren't much less expensive than the Revolution scopes.

    What is Leupold thinking? Do you think Leupold is immune and made here in the states solely? Their binoculars, rangefinders, VX-1, and Rifleman scopes are all imported from Asia.

    Incase you are having trouble hearing what I am saying, MUCH of Leupolds own lines are being made across the pond now...not just the Redfield lines.

    I got a Redfield Revolution only because it is USA made. (and needed a scope). I like it. I support USA workers.

    What I meant was leupold make this big hulla ballow about how they are "american made" and the "soul of the American hunter".....then they go and make the second generation of new Redfields overseas.....Im losing faith in my favorite scope maker...
