Mossberg 500A....Plug Removal
A friend of mine gave me a 500A to see if the plug can be removed so he can have more than 2 shells in the tube below the barrel. This is a pistol grip, shorty for his home protection. The barrel length is 18" and the tube length is 14 1/2". For this configuration, is there a plug that can be removed? If so, any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Aaron

Probably, just pop off the barrel and see. 0 -
Its been 25 years since I took mine out... but...
it is just a dowel in there IIRC. So... take barrel off, start shovign shells into the mag, mine came out enough w/ 3rd shell in that I could grab with my fingers and pull out.
Another option is to remove barrel and then unscrew mag tube from receiver, but be careful - fine threads, maybe with locktite stuff on it, and you can bend or dent the tube. Use one of those grip pads for stubborn jar lids, helps a lot.0 -
Yep, just a piece of dowel with 2 rubber seals that needs to be removed. Just hang onto it for duck hunting etc.
