H & R revolver

I have an 1897 Harrington & Richardson revolver which is in good shape for being 115 yrs of age. It is a top break six shot 32 caliber. But what 32 caliber is it exactly? I believe it is 32 Colt but there are many 32 types of caliber available. Any thoughts?

  I think 32 S&W, maybe 32 H&R. Take some stiff modeling clay and do a fax chamber cast.

  Most likely 32 S&W be aware that 32 Colt has the brass cartridge case smaller in diameter then the brass cartridge case of a 32S&W therefore try a 32 S&W LONG first if it fits in the cylinder all the way without any part sticking out of the front of the cylinder then it is 32 S&W long .If it starts in the chamber but will not go in all the way or if any part of the bullet sticks out the front of the cylinder. Then it is 32 S&W short . If it will not even start in the cylinder then it is a 32 COLT

  If it's a 6-shot, it will be .32 S&W Long caliber, and will also use the shorter .32 S&W.
  
  (No H&R's were chambered for .32 Short Colt or .32 Long Colt, but note that the .32 S&W Long was also marketed with flat nose bullet as the ".32 Colt New Police")
  
  Also, do not use .32 ACP/.32 Auto, which will also chamber nicely but generates much higher pressure.
