I have a Walther PP 9mm Kurz and I am having trouble finding the date it was made. SN#62394A

Buddy wants to sell me an import marked Walther PP in 32acp. Pistol is in 85% with one mag, no box or papers. He wants $260. I think this is a great deal any thoughts? Gun is not stolen, my buddy is a Deputy Sheriff. 0 -
Yeah, many of them. It's usually a district number or a military property number. Usually denotes use by the SA or a police department. 0 -
In the 80's & 90's, a lot of surplus West German police Walther PP's were imported and sold in the States. These were post war manufactured pistols. Similar to the one in this photo off the net.
Either post quality photos, or give us a very specific description of all markings and proof marks.
There would be a very great difference in value between the PP's that Skyking described, and the post war ones made in the 50's & 60's.

The Germans commonly marked the Police or Military units to which the guns were assigned, on the front strap. It is frequently seen on guns as far back as WW1 issue, and may have been done even earlier. I had a 1907 Dreyse that was so marked. 0 -
This Walther pp was imported by Interarms and made 1974, will be a couple of days before I can post a picture. 0
