1903 Springfield
A friend suggested I ask the pros so here goes:
Ser. # 883xxx
RIA over flaming bomb at top of barrel
2-19 below flaming bomb
U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 on the reciever
Very nice Parkerized finish on the metal.
Stock has the following markings:
224 stamped on the top of the handguard, forward of the rear sight.
Just above the triggerguard are two stampings, both enclosed in boxes. First one reads W.J.S. and the second is S.A. over S.P.G.
Any information greatly appreciated.

Probably almost impossible to find that part. It could be made from a piece of angle iron. I think that sight has sliding adjustments (not geared) and is friction locked in position. 0 -
no help on the sight but just to note this probably isn't a "sportered" 1903. back in 'the day' you could buy bare actions from springfield and build rifles on them commercialy, if yours is marked "Hoffman Arms" (or similar) that is probably a sraight commercial (and valuable) rifle. (more pix's would be nice [:D]). 0 -
This is the OLD Howe-Whelen sight that Hoffman sold. I used to have one of those. You are missing the 'L'-shaped elevation/windage slide. One can be made from the elevation/windage slide from the OLD Lyman Model 48 sight; I have some parts for those, may be able to put one together for you. 0 -
