Marlin 336 .35 remington dating

I am looking at a Marlin 336 in .35 remington.Is there a way to date the rifle by serial number? Is there anything to look for or stay away from?

need serial number include any letters( prefix or suffix) in serial number we will date it for you[;)]

I took one look at a very nice gun I'd call 95% and bought it.The serial number is 71 1596xx so I would assume it's a 1971 model ?

yes it is..also there were 72's after that they went with the full number where you subtract the first 2 numbers from 100

marlin 444ss = 1989 marlin 336 = 1964
