Help please! I have the opportunity to purchase this gun with 4 mags and am trying to find comps online and can't find anything, and very little info except that it's discontinued. What can anyone tell me? Is this a rare piece? What is it worth? Thanks!

I seriously doubt that any Taurus's could be considered rare. Many folks including myself have had problems with various Taurus's over the years.
Considering it's been discontinued, and you can't find any for sale on the auction(s). I wouldn't buy it unless you had the opportunity to test fire it, with all 4 magazines, using the ammo you intend to be shooting.
Sometimes deals that look to be good to be true, don't turn out positively.0 -
the 24/7 model in general has won the Guns & AmMo Editor's Award in 2003, the American Rifleman Golden Bullseye Handgun of the Year in 2004, and the American Rifleman Golden Bullseye Handgun of the Year again in 2005.
Lots of people love Taurus and a LOT of people hate them too.
In my personal experience, having shot 3 different models belonging to other people and owned a 24/7 myself for a while, I've found that they are great functioning weapons that are not worth much money. As much as I hate to admit it, my glock, xd, and my kimber have all malfunctioned at one time or another. The 24/7 never did.
Do your homework and do it well before you buy. Don't just ask here, ask EVERYWHERE.

Discontinued, yes, but rare. . .don't think so. There are plenty of brand new ones listed for sale on the auction site here at around $525 and they're not moving. There are also what appear to be brand new ones listed at $429, including one that expires in ten hours with zero bids on it.
Even if this gun were rare, there is virtually {edit} NO collector's market for Taurus, so this is not a gun that's likely to significantly appreciate in value over time (at least not more than any used/working gun). Rarity doesn't, by itself, make a gun desirable.
The quick story is that Taurus designed this gun to compete for a US Special Operations command military handgun contract that never ended up materializing. Taurus basically cobbled together what it thought were the best features from a number of other current service guns into this one.
The gun did create some buzz when it came out, and I think by all accounts, this one is probably one of their best original auto designs (ie one of their best autos NOT a direct Beretta clone). If you're looking for a full sized striker fired polymer service gun, its probably worth a look.
Note that this is a full sized gun. . .its good for range and personal defense. Probably not so good for concealed carry.
On pricing. . .eh. . .used ones have sold on the auction site for under $300 all the way to $425. Again, you can pick up a brand new one for under $450 (plus shipping and fees).
For a USED one in excellent shape, with original box, and four mags, I'd say $400 is probably a reasonable price. And personally, I wouldn't pay that much for one. Just a little more will get you a used Glock, and at the very least, it will be more easily resalable.
I definitely agree with Rufe, that I wouldn't buy ANY Taurus gun without the ability to either test fire it extensively first, or to return it unconditionally within a reasonable time after purchase.
The reason is that Tarurus's quality control can leave a bit to be desired, and even though they offer great warranty service, the hassle factor of actually getting them to provide it isn't going to be worth a few dollars savings on a gun.0 -
The 24/7 isn't rare at all, and the price you quote is way out of line. Even though the 24/7 has been discontinued, stores around here still have some in stock.
The new model is the PT 845. It's basically the 24/7 with a much more user friendly take down latch.
I have to admit that I never thought I would own a polymer frame gun, much less a taurus. But a friend of mine bought one for use as a field carry piece, and after shooting his, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Gave $350. for it brand new at Academy Sports, but the reliability and accuracy are way above and beyond what I paid for it. Needless to say, I'm extremely pleased with it.0
