S&W Test fire pattern...
Can anyone provide me with info on S&W's test fire format for early stainless guns....ie...how many rounds fired in a gun before shipping out...?

I'm pretty sure the pattern was EVERY OTHER CYLINDER! I spent nearly $15-G's on stainless, Smiths back then and every new one had the same poweder burn pattern on the cylinder face: 3-rounds, every other one!

They shoot every other chamber as far as I've heard. From the looks of the cylinders, that's what I've seen on them. 0 -

In the 70's, every Smith I unboxed had been fired with alternate chambers, with five-shot guns also being fired with three shots (two of them from adjacent chambers). 0
