Ruger ???

Had a customer just call , and I drew a blank for an answer ?
So ,,,
Customer stated that he had a Ruger Blackhawk (old model)?
and it did NOT have a 'half cock' notch and you had to hold the hammer (w-thumb) at the half-way point in order to rotate the cylinder ???
I said not so ? something is not right !
Am I correct / or am I wrong ?

  I think you are correct. Bubba or been dropped and the half cock notch is broken off.

  I have 4 or 5 old model Rugers and they all have the half-cock. I would think that holding the hammer part-way back with your thumb would make it a little awkward to load!
  
  I just thought of something. I have some that have the 6-shot Ruger conversion. I can't remember if they have the half-cock. I'll check.
  
  Nope. The transfer bar conversions have the half-cock, too.
  
  I'd bet that, once you look at it, it will be a new model.

  If an Old Model they all had half cock notches and sounds like his is broken. New Models you just leave the hammer down and open the loading gate to load the gun. If he or you sends it back to Ruger for repair they WILL NOT send it back to him without installing the transfer bar safety. They do the conversion for free and return any old parts.

  Are you sure it's a "OLD" model [?] Sounds like a "NEW" model to me.
