Mauser Rifle Type

I just aquired a Mauser rifle. Its been sporterized,rebarrelled and restocked. Markings are as follows,on the action ring Waffenfabrik Mauser A-G Oberndorf 1918. On the side of the action Gew 98. Is there any way to know if this is a small ring or large ring mauser action? Thanks, Steve G.

  At the left side rail, where it meets the front receiver ring, is there a step up(large ring) or even (small ring).

  Yep, all marked WWI Gew's are large ring, the small rings are marked Kar 98.
