Winchester Model 12 age
I have a Winchester Model 12, 12ga with a full choke barrel that was passed down to me from my grandfather. The serial # is 424706. Does anyone have a book that could tell me when it was made and any information about it. The gun is in excellent condition and I am trying to figure out how old it is and approximately what it is worth. I also have a Winchester Model 94 30-30 that has a serial # of 2568174 that I would like to know the age of. Thank you.

it looks like 1926.0 -
From the sticky on 94
1962 ended at circa serial number 2,564,500
1963 ended at circa serial number 2,600,300
You could search on the auction for completed items to get feel for values.
The Blue Book of Gun Values is good place to start. Has a good section to explain condition which is very important in pricing.0 -
Your model 12 was manufactured in 1925, it probably has a 30" barrel and is worth somewhere between $300-$450. There where alot of model 12s built in field grade and 12 gauge. If your's was a Trap Grade or even a Heavy Duck the value would be double or tripple the figure I gave you.

My grandfather had told me before he passed it was a Trap gun but I have no way of knowing for sure. How do you tell a trap grade from a field grade? Thank you.

A 12 trap from that era should have TRAP stamped right by the serial numbers.... 0 -

If it's a Trap Grade it will have a ribbed barrel.
