The Cody Museum link of http://www.bbhc.org/firearms/records/ you posted in this thread:
http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=231184 has apparently been changed.
This one seems to work OK so you might want to change it in the thread:

Bert, in a previous thread about the Winchester threaded barrel, would you mind telling what the give away is to it being non factory?
Is a real one marked in some manner?0 -
Bert is gone to the Reno show & won't be online for a while so you might have to bump this thread, email him or wait til he gets back.

just noticed that auction you posted ends in 2 days...hope other collectors can give you a price since most likely Bert won't be online. Its a nice box and has to make up a least a little since the old owner inscibed the gun with his name..hate when they do that[xx(]0 -

The rust on the barrel doesn't help it at all [xx(]
My UZI has the guys name scratched on the reciever and mags too [B)]
At least I could bead blast it and repaint it [^]0 -
In my opinion the box is worth more then the rifle unless you could find a rifle in great condition NO WAY would I give much for a abused and defaced rifle[V] 0 -
Bert is at the Big Reno Show, probably striking a pose much like this one:
0 -
You only see that pose when he's out of breath from running laps around the show inspecting every Winchester.[:)]
That 1849 Colt on the table looks familiar.0 -
He's been known to have a similar pose, but having an adult beverage in his hand.

After the Ducks loss to the Cardinal, he's apt to have one in each hand for the remainder of the evening! [:D]0 -
All of you wise guys can BITE me![}:)] 0 -
Mark,
The picture you posted of that table looks like Fred Sanford's table !
Now, if there were L C Smiths instead of those parts guns displayed there, "Mr Narcosis" would have had a crowd there !!!!0 -
If that was Alvin C. York and the correct number... Nice box. 0 -
I bet Bert still hiding in the corner with his blanket, in the fetal position, while rocking back and forth, mumbling "that wasn't a touchdown, that wasn't a touchdown". 0 -
OK,
To answer the orignal question, the box more than doubles the value of that rifle. In my opinion, the rifle & box are worth at least $800.0
