1903-A3 Remington Stock Question
I saw a Remington 1903-A3 for sale today. The only marking on the stock is"RA" on the left side of the buttstock in 1/4 inch high letters. Can any of you tell me anything about this stock? My other 1903-A3 has lots of markings; P in a circle and Inspector initials, etc., but this one is entirely different. The wood is also very dry with no finish. Thanks for any help.

It was not unusual for a WW2 replacement stock to have no finish. 
Your rifle was likely rebuilt at Raritan Arsenal. The stock manufacturers code should be in the cut-off notch, probably S (Springfield Armory) or K (Keystone Mfg). Inspector markings are only found on factory stocks. But, I would have expected a proof P on the pistol grip.
