colt new pocket
I have a Colt new pocket pistol, 32 which a friend has offered to buy. I have no idea of its value. On the left side of the barrel it is stamped COLT D.A. 32. On the bottom of the hand grip there is a serial number, 43007. It has ivory grips. Can anyone give me a general idea of its value? It is in excellent condition.

i have recently acquired one made pre 1898. its marked colt da 32.what ammo does it take?i picked up some contempory to the gun, 32 long colt in 2 piece boxes and it does not fit. i have winchester,umc and canuck.

i THINK your revolver is in caliber .32 Short Colt- which is NOT the same as a .32 S&W- it is a smaller diameter case (also known as .320 European Revolver cartridge).
At one time, all guns used a heel seated bullet (same design as way a .22 rimfire bullet is held in the case). When they started making inside loaded bullets, they kept the same bore diameter, but needed a larger case diameter. Yours is still using the older, smaller diameter case.0 -

I think it should chamber the .32 Long Colt ammo.
Maybe the chambers are caked with old residue from use of only .32 Short Colt?0 -
If your Colt was made before 1898, chances are that it was made for use with black powder cartridges.
The metal used in these black powder pistols is not as strong as that used in modern guns made for use with smokeless powder.
If you have to use modern ammo, you would be well advised to use cartridges made for Cowboy Action Shooting. These cartridges have a similar power as blackpowder cartridges.
If you use modern high powered ammo, you stand an excellent chance of not only ruining your gun, but of hurting yourself.0
