Pistol scope??'s

Alot of the pistol scope listed on the auction side, say the eye relief is, 9 to 10 inches? I'm I missing something? I thought 17 to 24 inches would be the eye relife. Even a rifle Scote set-up would be longer the 10 inches. What are these scopes used for or are they pistol scopes?

  Ncstar would not be the standard by which you should judge others.
  
  Reduce your search to Burris and you'll get a better idea of what's available.
  
  And yes. 10 would be a little close for me too.

  that sounds more like a scope designed for a Scout rifle or barrel mount on a '94 carbine. Th Leupold M8 EER 2x has an eye relief that is just right for my outstretched arms, so must be around 20".

  Bigoutside has it correct. If you are looking for handgun scopes, Burris is the only name I trust. They make a wide range of fixed and variable power scopes, for the very descriminating.
  
  In optics, you get what you pay for. Buy a NcStar, and that is just money you pissed away, as you will want to get something better, and there is NO way you will get even close to half of your money back out of the NcStar.

  The Leupold 2X on my Redhawk is just right with my arms out stright.
  A Redfield 2X8 on my Contender has to be closer when set higher than 5X.
  There are long and extended eye relief scopes. Extended are for pistols [;)]

  FWIW, standard eye relief on a pistol scope is typically around 12-20 inches.
  
  A scope that offers only 11 inches might still work for you, *IF* you've got short arms (ie you're not that tall), and/or if you can get away with the scope mounted off the rear of your gun. But I think most shooters of average size with ordinary guns are going to find that too short.
  
  For a "scout" setup on a rifle, 11" is probably fine.
  
  In any case, NCStar optics are about the bottom of the bucket in terms of quality. General image quality is poor, the adjustment may not be perfectly reproduceable, the scope may not hold a zero, and its also probably not all that durable. Something like this might be OK for a paintball gun, or maybe a .22 plinker, but I wouldn't put one on any gun that was either intended for a "serious" purpose, or one bigger than a rimfire.
  
  As mentioned, Burris is probably the best when it comes to bang/buck for scopes you'd actually want to put on a handgun.
  
  Nikon and Leupold are OK too, if you can find a deal on one.
