Remington 700 BDL stock change
I have an older Remington 700 BDL Long Action 7mm Rem Mag that the wood stock has cracked.I am looking at replacing it with a synthetic stock.I found a new long action XCR long action stock for a very reasonable price. Is this a simple drop in swap?

It should be a drop in replacement, but those XCR stocks are a flimsey POS. I wouldn't even give one to anyone. I would use a Bell and Carlson, or something better, for best results.

Yes, that is a great suggestion, to use the STOCKYs laminate stock. They are great, and are fairly simple to put pillars in, should you decide to.0 -
4406v,
It is a simple drop in swap.
But I suggest avoiding those stocks from Remington like a plague. They are cheap, injection molded garbage suited only to be thrown away or recycled.
Try looking at Bell and Carlson or Stockys Stocks:

There are laminates and synthetics for reasonable prices. Not cheap but reasonable.
