HK 911
I was looking at buying a HK 91 and came across a HK 911 stamped on the left side of the rifle above the magazine. It was also stamped with CAL 7.62 x 51. Are there any issues that I should be aware of with this rifle? What value would you put on one? Thanks.

The 911 was simply an HK-91 which was altered to beat the 1989 Bush Ban (which some forum members have conveniently forgotten all about) by adding a Bell-Carlson thumb hole stock, welding the end cap so that it could not be replaced with the bayonet mount, hiding the threaded muzzle with a simple spot welded cover and of course adding a 1 to the designation. About 1100 of these rifles were imported and most have been converted back to standard 91 configuration. These were popular Ban Beaters" in states where the HK-91 was a named firearm on a specific ban list. There are no issues with these rifles as they are for all intents and purposes HK-91s. Values are subjective but the 911 rifles typically do not sell for the same price as an original 91, even if the 911 has been restored to it's original configuration. 0 -
If converted to "evil" features, then 922r applies. If you didn't do the conversion, no worries.
I've seen a few requests on falfiles regarding thumbholed weapons, that are post-89 ban but pre-94 ban. I would imagine these have slightly higher value in certain states/localities due to still existing ban laws.

I've seen and shot full auto HK91, M14, and FAL in the same sitting. Of the 3, the FAL is the most controllable, followed by the m14. It was so much control with the HK/G3 as it was the recoil thwop.
If you want accuracy for competition, the M14 style is probably what you want... or an AR-10 type. Otherwise, look at the adoption rates of the FAL vs the HK/G3. Also note that the FAL lost to the M14 in Army trials due to politics...0 -

Right now I would not be putting prices on any assault style firearms because what impact, if any, the election will have on the market has yet to be felt. 0 -
One of my friends told me that he had a HK91 and got rid of it due to its poor ergonomics (ie. not good for shorter people with small hands). Also, he said it kicked more than his Garand and M1A. Any comments? 0 -

In my opinion, and I was an authorized HK Law Enforcement dealer for twenty years selling the entire line from handguns, SMGs and MGs, the HK-91 kicks harder than any other .308 semi auto. The HK story about the delayed blow back action reducing recoil is pure BS...It kicks hard. I have small hands and yes, the thumb operated selector lever is hard to manage. The sights leave much to be desired, although there is a replacement available that was intended LMG but will fit on a 91/G3...For a hefty price. The trigger also sucks, but once again you can replace it; this time with the trigger unit used in their sniper rifles...$$$$$$.0 -
I agree with Mr. Christian, the H-K 91 is a HARD kicker. It seems like shooting a light 12-gauge to me. The M14/M1A and FN-FAL are "light kickers" in comparison. I therefore relegate the H-K 91 to "collector" status only, and shoot the other main 7.62/.308 battle rifles for recreation. 0 -
