AR-15 switching from collapsable to fixed stock

I'm planning on switching my AR-15 buttstock from a collapsible to fixed type.

Before doing so, I wanted to make sure I got the right parts

My parts list is: Stock, buffer, spring, and buffer tube.


Is there anything else I need?

  you got it. depending on your buffer you may or may not have to change it over. You will also need a screw to mount the stock to the buffer tube.

  Have a couple of the tiny detent springs on hand as they tend to vanish during the switch [B)]

  You have it covered,but as MC says, it don't hurt to have a few other parts floating around, in case. Just a reminder, wear some safety glasses when changing that buffer/spring/tube. That little detent, cn be quite the rocketship if it gets loose on you.

  Do as I taught the re-class flunky in my shop at Ft. Hood to do.
  
  Remove the spring from the buffer and reinsert the buffer an inch or so back into the buffer tube. When you loosen/remove the buffer tube the detent/spring will stop against the buffer with not much spring tention and you can put your hand over the receiver extention to keep them from taking off for parts unknown.

  Changing to a solid stock requires a different buffer and spring as your original post stated. The stock spacer and screw should be included with your stock but make sure before tearing your old stock down. You'll have to depress the buffer detent slightly to unscrew the buffer tube which in my case, usually results in a pinched thumb.

  I'm sure your stock kit will have them, but if you buy it solo at a gun show or something remember you'll also need screws that go into the buttstock and hold it to the buffer tube.
