No, they do not recognize C&R's for handguns. It must be shipped to an FFL dealer. Most NY dealers will not accept a handgun from a non-FFL. 0 -
Spider nailed it. In MOST states, you can, but CA requires the C&R HANDGUNS go to a Dealer in CA for final transfer. NY Dealers CANNOT receive a handgun from a non-FFL outside the state- State law.
Suggestion- IF you are putting a handgun up for sale, you will find your shipping costs EXTREMELY high (around $75). However, a DEALER can mail a handgun by US Mail to another dealer- for a lot less. Which also solves the other problem.
If you decide to ship yourself, good idea to state in auction "I am not a FFL- Please be sure your dealer will accept a shipment from a non-FFL"
In most states, perfectly legal, but some dealers will not. Put a copy of your driver's license in with the gun so the receiving dealer has info to log the gun in to his bound book.0 -

that has been covered on here many many times..A C&R is a FFL and is legal to ship to a dealer in NY. Many dealers choose as their policy not to accept it ,,but it is not illegal by state law0 -
In CA a C&R handgun must be shipped to a CA firearms dealer who will perform the actual transfer. Keep in mind that as a non licensee you do not need to contact the CA DOJ and obtain a shipping authorization number, you may ship directly to the dealer. The DOJ authorization number applies only to dealer to dealer shipments. 0 -
Sharpshooter- the original post is from a gent that is NOT a C&R FFL, or FFL of any kind- he is looking at shipping TO a C&R FFL. 0
