AK 47 Pistols
I am looking to buy an AK 47 Pistol and have looked at the Zastava which I think is made in Serbia and the Draco from Romania. I would like some expert opinions and feedback on the good and bad AK 47 pistols or if they are all about the same. Thanks.

Basically, either one of those are nothing but a Krinkov configuration, without the side folding stock. They are both close to the ROMAK configuration. They should be good to go, but are most likely more of a conversation piece, than a productive firearm.

All these cut down pistol version of semi-auto rifles share a few things in common: they're heavy for handguns, poorly balanced, loud, make a big flash, and offer poor practical accuracy.
If you have the ability to throw a folding stock on one (or better yet, folding stock + select fire), then you've got something like a submachine gun, and maybe you've got something interesting.
By itself? Honestly, I fail to see the point. You probably not really going to hunt with these, they're too bulky for concealed carry, impractical for home or self-defense (you get most of the liability of a rifle, with little of the benefit), and worthless for any kind of target shooting.
Why do you want this thing to begin with?
I suppose they have some "ha ha" value at the range, but given the roughly $500 cost for even an entry level one of these, wouldn't you rather have a different, more functional rifle or handgun? I would.
As to which models are better/best, what "features" are you looking for here? So long as the thing actually cycles reliably, I don't really see the difference between one or another.
I will share one tip, though. Even though you can't legally put a stock on one of these, unless you register it as a short-barreled rifle with the Federal gov't, you *CAN* mount a single point sling loop on the back. If you do that, you can throw the sling over your right shoulder, and pull forward on it while shooting, somewhat mimicking the stabilizing effect of a stock. Its not as good as a real stock, obviously, but it may help get some use from this.
Personally, I'd save your money, buy a REAL AK, then put a folding stock on it. You won't be able to shoot it easily with one hand, but it will do everything else better.0 -
Seen a couple at the gun show in my neck of the woods. Being California I figured it was a single shot or 10 with a 30+ length magazine. All I saw were the Grand Theft Auto crowed ooo-ing and aaa-ing.
Put a shoulder rig style of Styre SSP or Mini-Uzi (Chuck Norris) would make a fun CCW.0 -
A decade back one of my hunting partners got the bug for an AR pistol. He bought the top of the line, at that time, with the on top recoil system. It was bada$$ to look at, but it was just plain bad to shoot. It took more thn a few round to hit anything as none of us had the ape arms needed to hold it out at arms length for any length of time to be able to use the sights effectively. Shooting from the hip was fun, but anyone with a glock or 1911 would have been much more effective. He looked into the folding stock option and ran into the short barreled rifle issue. The last I knew it had become just an expensive novelity paperweight. 0 -

I love to bump shoot my Draco. As close to full auto fire as you can legally get with a semi-auto gun. I have a detachable shoulder harness. At 15 yards, I can put 20rd out of 30 rd clip in 24inch square target in about 3 seconds. Giggle & grin!!!!!! 0 -

Do they still make those "Hell Fire" or some other finger manipulated rigs to throw multipul rounds?0 -
They still make the 'Hell Fire' trigger. I'm gonna try and pick one up for my SKS next week at the local gun show. I want to get an AK 47 pistol for use as a truck gun. It would fit well beneath the rear seat cusion and since I have a CCW it should be legal since it is a classified as a pistol. As to why I want one, the way things are going with our government, I believe in 2 things. Gold & Guns.
