    possible, yes...practical..no parts for these are very hard to find and expensive. much cheaper/easyer to take up reloading and load for the .30 rem. Brass is still being made and you can use .30/30 dies (just a different shell holder).

    "I am pretty sure the receiver is machined the same, there would be magazine and extractor issues as well."..........like he said, this rifle is recoil operated and the .300 sav. has much more recoil than the .30/30 so you would need to change the recoil springs as well (2 ea., inside the barrel jacket)

    Mr. Mike, appreciate the comment! I'm looking at this as more of a science experiment. I already load for the 30 Rem and have a model 81 and 14 in the same caliber. I have the opportunity to pick up some 300 savage parts for the 81 and was just asking if they would work or not. It would nice to know if this would be a "chop and swap".
