Remington 870 problem. Need HELP!

OK, so my new tactical barrel came in. Change out was easy. But I wanted to remove the plug from the magazine too. So I looked it up on Youtube. Video says unscrew cap, push spring retainer into mag-tube w/ large screwdriver, and turn. Pops right out.
WRONG. Mine is apparently the older type that you pry out. It went about 2 1/2" inside the mag tube and got STUCK. Can't get it out. Won't budge.
Any help appreciated.

    Use a long screw and grab it with pliers and pull. It should have a hole in the middle.

    Metal clothes hanger. 12" length. Make a small opposing "J" hook on each end. Bend it in the middle so that both hooks touch. Push both hooks through the spring retainer and pull up.

    it will be tight get a small butterfly the one you push thru hole in wall and maybe need a longer bolt insert pull it out

    Whatever method you use, wear eye protection, things will be flying everywhere when it finally comes loose.

    I like the clothes hanger idea, that should work and yes parts are gonna fly.[:D][:0]

    I must agree with Mr. Lefty on the eye protection! I know from personal experience that that spring will launch the retainer into the next county.

    Once you get your pulling tools into position and are ready to pull, drape a bath towel over everything before pulling. That will contain any flying parts and protect your face. [:)]

    the solution is very simple... had the same problem come into my shop. simply cut a piece of water hose, the good stiff type, stick into the loading end and force the spring and retainer out.[;)]
