Every rifle is an event onto itself. The only way to know for SURE what shoots best in your rifle is to load or buy the ammo and try it.

If you are shooting factory ammo anything around or a bit over 1-1/2" is acceptable for a hunting rifle.

I understand that but I'd like to narrow it down before I start buying ammo if I can!

Would you recomend the standard Core-Lokt or the Premier Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded?

Sounds like the same problem you are having with the Ruger 77's in 243, and 270 Winchester.

I will step out of line and give you some advice from my experience. I have had very good luck, in many rifles, with Winchester Ballistic Silvertip ammunition. I have seen very few not like it. As a general rule, I load all of my hunting ammunition, and usually use the Barnes TSX, or TTSX(tipped with a polymer tip).

I would try the Remiinton Core-Lokt, or Federal Fusion, if you are price shopping.

    x2.

For some reason a couple of my rifles seem to like green/yellow boxed Remington Core-Lokts. They sell Rem 100 grainers in orange/green boxes called "whitetail pro" at Bass Pro. Same stuff (I think) with the same result, and better yet, decent prices.
