  I don't know beans about it. For it to be worth really big bucks, it has have been engraved and fitted with ivories at Colt. You need a Colt letter to establish that.
  
  If it wasn't embellished at Colt, it's current condition would negatively affect it's value. Appears to be a substantial amount of wear, and gold wash has been worn off, in edition to the cracked ivories.
  
  
  EDIT #1, "Factory Engraved" doesn't mean squat unless you have a Colt letter, to substantiate it.
  
  Even with a Colt letter, it's condition is a big negative. Folks who collect and pay big bucks for factory engraved guns, keep them in mint condition as safe queens. Not pocket carry them as this one appears to have been.

  I have seen many DS in a lot better shape than this one. And the cracked ivory grips don't do much for me. Value? Without seeing it up close and personal....$500 tops. Might be worth more if it had a "history." Might be more with the Colt letter as Rufe says....but who knows in an auction setting...I have seen folks go nuts over "stuff" that I wouldn't cross the street for. Value a lot of the time is in the eye of the beholder (bidder).
