.32 H&R question

Hi Gents
Got a old .32 H&R revolver in S&W Long. Model 732. It has a big hammer but will only function by pulling the trigger as in double action only. Can not cock it(to shoot single action). Seems odd to me. Anyone know if this is normal for this pistol? It shoots pretty good.

  Single action sear (little part sticking out behind the trigger) may be stuck or spring broken.
  
  Sear could also be broken or notch in hammer worn.
  
  It's even possible someone removed the sear.

  Take a small screw driver, or some similar thin object and try pushing forward on that little part sticking out behind the trigger as you cock the hammer. If the hammer locks back like the pistol is ready to be fired in single-action mode, your spring is broken.

  H&R used a coil sear spring, so less likely to be broken than sear just stuck back due to gunk or rust.

  Before pushing out pins and flying springs, shoot a good spray of CLP
  up into the frame behind the trigger and wobble that little trigger a bunch. It should have spring tension behind it.
  That gun can be a pain to reassemble so don't take it apart if you can get it going.
